Documentaire over kunstenaar en veelbekroond kinderboekenschrijver Ted van Lieshout. Hij zet een grote stap. Niet alleen legt hij de laatste hand aan zijn eerste boek voor volwassenen, hij heeft er ook voor gekozen een controversieel onderwerp ter hand te nemen. In zijn roman Mijn Meneer beschrijft hij een ingrijpende gebeurtenis uit zijn jeugd, de omgang met een pedofiele man. Voor de documentaire ‘Ik zal uw naam niet noemen’ laat hij regisseur Arno Kranenborg toe tijdens de moeizame productie van het boek en zijn discussies met familie en vrienden.
De vroege dood van zijn vader en zijn haatliefde verhouding met zijn flamboyante moeder hebben al eerder een plek in Ted van Lieshouts werk gekregen. Nu schrijft hij voor het eerst een roman voor volwassenen. Een niets ontziend boek, geschreven vanuit het perspectief van een kind van 10, waarin hij ook de intieme beschrijvingen van de lichamelijke en seksuele kanten van een dergelijke ongelijke relatie niet schuwt. De worsteling met de heikele thematiek van dit boek is een terugkerend element in dit portret van een eigenzinnig multitalent. Zijn tekenwerk, zijn gedichten, zijn optredens en zijn liedjes; Kranenborg maakt in zijn documentaire ‘Ik zal uw naam niet noemen’, gulzig en functioneel, gebruik van de kunsten die Van Lieshout te bieden heeft om tot een documentaire te komen die recht doet aan Van Lieshouts brede scale aan talenten.

A documentary about The Dutch Artist and many award-winning children’s author Ted Van Lieshout. He takes a risk. He is working on his first novel for adults about a very controversial subject. In this novel My Mr. he comes up with the autobiographical story, from his youth, about his relationship as a young boy of 10 years old, with an older man of 29 years old. A relationship wich was very dear to him. Van Lieshout gives director Arno Kranenborg the opportunity to come close during this laborious proces and the discussions with family and friends while Van Lieshout tries to defend his former relationship with his Mr.
The early death and his ambivalent relationship with his flamboyant mother already found a place in the works of author Van Lieshout. Currently he writes, for the first time, a novel for adults. A reckless book about pedophilia, sexually explicit, written from the perspective of a young boy of 10 years old. His struggle with this tricky theme of the book is a recurrent element in this portrait of a remarkable multi-talent. His drawings, his poems, his performances and his songs; Kranenborg draws from this almost inexhaustible source of creativity in order to make his documentary ‘I will not mention your name’. A documentary that does justice to the broad scale of talents of Ted Van Lieshout.
